Carolyn Malachi: the hottest dish at Blues Alley
Firing up jazz lovers everywhere, vocalist/emcee Carolyn Malachi is headed to the alley—Blues Alley, that is.
Hit single, “Orion,” from her latest album, Revenge of the Smart Chicks III: Eclectic Company, sent shockwaves through Johannesburg, South Africa as Malachi dished a familiar yet nonetheless delectable mix of fierce vocals, dope rhymes and a mean band to match. The supernova just barely cooled her heels and now, she’s headed north. Surely, Georgetown should brace itself for the shooting star headed its way.
Born 1965, Blues Alley jazz club has become a Georgetown landmark, housing the ensembles of Grover Washington Jr., Nancy Wilson, Sara Vaughn, Phyllis Hyman, Najee and many more. Come March 15th, however, Georgetown’s heart of music and history makes way for none other than Malachi herself.
